Additional Eligibility Norms for Specific Sports

  • Bodybuilding: Achievements from Indian Body Builders Federation after 31/12/2021 not considered. Certificates from AIU or International Federations acceptable.

  • Table Tennis/Badminton: Recruitment can be based on current annual All India Rankings. Example: For Level 3/2 – Singles up to 20th rank (Seniors) or up to 6th rank (Youth/Juniors). For Level 1 – Singles up to 30th rank (Seniors).

  • Cricket: Specific requirements for GP 2800/2400 and GP 2000/1900 including participation in India-A, U-19 team, or certain national tournaments.

  • Kabaddi: Weight limit – Men below 85 kg, Women below 75 kg (at trial).

  • Volleyball, Powerlifting, Handball, Hockey, Weightlifting: Achievements must be from recognized federations/events within specified timeframes.

  • Hockey: Only Hockey India recognized.

  • Weightlifting: From 01/06/2025, new bodyweight categories apply.

Important Notes

  1. Championships must be conducted under recognized International/National Sports Federations and approved by Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).

  2. If 5 posts in Level 5/4 remain vacant, they may be downgraded to Level 3/2.

  3. Candidates with higher sports norms applying for lower grade pay can be considered, but must submit an undertaking not to claim higher grade pay later.

  4. Recruitment is only for advertised disciplines and positions.

  5. Final selection will be subject to fitting into the WRSA Team.

Recognized Junior National Championships

Western Railway will accept only championships from the official list in disciplines like Athletics, Basketball, Bodybuilding, Cricket, Cycling, Gymnastics, Football, Hockey, Handball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Powerlifting, Volleyball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Water Polo, and Weightlifting.

  • Only Senior National & Junior National Championships will be counted (Rural/Festival meets not accepted).

  • Achievements must be from 01/04/2023 onwards.

1. Trial Stage

  • All eligible candidates will be called for sports trials.

  • Candidates must secure 25 or more out of 40 marks in Game Skill, Physical Fitness, and Coach’s Observations to qualify for the next stage.
