  • Essential Qualification:

    • Passed 10th Class examination (under 10+2 system) or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.

    • Possession of National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.

  • Special Note:

    • Candidates holding an NTC in “Wood Work Technician” under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) are also eligible to apply for the Carpenter trade under the Apprentices Act.

Medical Fitness Requirement

  • Candidates must meet the minimum physical fitness standards as prescribed under The Apprentices Act, 1961 and The Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (as amended).

  • At the time of Document Verification, candidates must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format, issued by a Government Authorized Doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of Central/State Hospital.

Eastern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025 – Selection Process

  • Selection Basis:

    • Selection will be purely on merit prepared from details provided in the online application form.

    • Merit will be determined by average percentage marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI in the relevant trade, giving equal weightage to both.

  • Merit Calculation Formula:

    Merit Marks = \frac{(Matric % + ITI %)}{2}

  • Tie-Breaker Rules:

  • Shortlisting for Document Verification (DV):

    • Candidates equal to 1.5 times the notified vacancies will be called for DV to account for absenteeism/rejections.

    • For 1:1 slots, a candidate will be allotted a specific unit and trade, and will not be considered for other preferences.

    • The remaining 0.5 ratio candidates may be considered for DV in other units as per preference, if vacancies remain.

  • Final Allotment:

    • A candidate will be selected for training in only one unit and one trade based on community-wise merit and availability of slots.

  • Final Authority:
