Eastern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025 – Selection Process

• Selection Basis:

  • Selection will be purely on merit prepared from details provided in the online application form.

  • Merit will be determined by average percentage marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI in the relevant trade, giving equal weightage to both.

• Merit Calculation Formula:

  Merit Marks = \frac{(Matric % + ITI %)}{2}

  Example:
  If a candidate scores 80.58% in Matriculation and 91.68% in ITI,
  Merit = (80.58 + 91.68) ÷ 2 = 86.13%

• Tie-Breaker Rules:

  1. Candidate with older age will be preferred.

  2. If age is the same, the candidate who passed Matric earlier will be preferred.

• Shortlisting for Document Verification (DV):

  • Candidates equal to 1.5 times the notified vacancies will be called for DV to account for absenteeism/rejections.

  • For 1:1 slots, a candidate will be allotted a specific unit and trade, and will not be considered for other preferences.

  • The remaining 0.5 ratio candidates may be considered for DV in other units as per preference, if vacancies remain.

• Final Allotment:

  • A candidate will be selected for training in only one unit and one trade based on community-wise merit and availability of slots.

  • Selection is subject to medical fitness and verification of eligibility documents.

• Final Authority:

  • In case of any dispute, the decision of Railway Administration will be final.

Eastern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025 – Other Important Terms & Conditions

• Stipend:

  • Selected candidates will receive a stipend at the prescribed rate as per existing government provisions.

• Training Nature:

  • This recruitment is only for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

  • It does not guarantee employment in the Railways after training completion.

• Preference in Future Recruitment:

  • As per rules, 20% of vacancies in Level-1 recruitment (erstwhile Group ‘D’ posts with Grade Pay ₹1800/-) may be reserved for Course Completed Act Apprentices who:

    • Have been trained in Railway establishments,

    • Hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT,

    • Meet all other eligibility criteria, and

    • Achieve minimum qualifying marks in the recruitment examination.

• Final Decision:

  • The decision of RRC Eastern Railway regarding eligibility and acceptance of applications will be final.

• No Communication for Non-Selection:

  • Candidates who are not shortlisted or not selected will not receive individual replies.

• No Agents or Coaching Centres:

  • The Railway does not authorize any coaching centre or agent for selection.

  • Beware of fraudsters promising jobs in exchange for money. Report such incidents to the SDGM/ER and local police, with a copy to the RRC-ER office.

• Correction of Errors:

  • RRC-ER will not be responsible for inadvertent errors in the notification but reserves the right to correct them if required.
